Surfer Blood - ‘Take It Easy’
Each of the four members of Surfer Blood, despite what you may be led to believe, lack the ability to actually surf to any degree of success. One art they seem to have got down is how to make a damn good debut record showcasing their promise within the emerging ‘surf rock’ subgenre.

Recorded on a shoestring budget from within their University of Florida dorm, ‘Astro Coast’ sets Surfer Blood apart from the rest of the bands tipped to set the ‘industry’ alight during the next twelve months. I like how they seemingly don’t take themselves too seriously, instead focussing on soundtracking their youth through loud, jangly and insanely catchy melodies. The above, along with debut single ‘Swim (To Reach The End)’, pose as snapshots of their instantly likeable, almost Shins-esque sound.
