Here’s a select three of my favourite music videos from the past year. It was a struggle to narrow them down in all honesty, with notable mentions elsewhere going to Girls - ‘Hellhole Ratrace’, Coldplay - ‘Life In Technicolor II’ and The Twilight Sad - ‘Seven Years Of Letters’. Props to them also.
HEALTH - ‘Die Slow’
I think that once this track got out in advance of the second LP ‘Get Color’ from the Californian noise rock outfit, everyone was half expecting a really great record. Although it sort of failed to meet the anticipation in retrospect, it still gave us one the songs of 2009 in my book, along with this pretty trippy, not to mention awesome, video.
Los Campesinos! - ‘There Are Listed Buildings’
‘Romance Is Boring’ is the second, if you discount last year’s ‘mini-album’ or whatever they’re calling it, record from LC!, penned for release around early 2010. Going on the evidence of this and the previous free taster contained herewith, it seems the band have grown a whole lot, offering the potential to put out one of the albums of next year. Even the artwork is really great.
WHY? - ‘These Hands’ / ‘January Twenty Something’
This surfaced online last week or something, posing as the first snippet to be cut from fourth album ‘Eskimo Snow’. The above matches the song(s) superbly well, firstly through the intro then onto the full band performance of ‘January Twenty Something’. Such an incredible band.
