Codes In The Clouds - ‘Distant Street Lights’
‘Paper Canyon’ is the debut record from London quintet Codes In The Clouds, released in June following the successes of the epic above single amongst the ever growing post-rock circle.
Though arguably less melodic in comparison to influences such as Explosions In The Sky and Mono alongside others, what the band lack in this department they make up for through their ability to constantly change the pace, repeatedly building into crescendo. The album weaves the most intricate of guitar lines one minute, then swiftly delivers a punch to the kidneys by means of a blistering wave of noise the next. Thoroughly recommended.
